The match day 11 of the ongoing of Rwanda Premier League played over the weekend produced a series of surprising but disappointing results for reigning champions APR, Rayon Sports and SC Kiyovu, as the trio dropped points at the hands of Mukura VS, Musanze and Gasogi United respectively.
APR could only take home one point as they were held by Mukura Victory Sports to a goalless draw on Sunday, November 27, at Huye Stadium.
The army side missed crucial chances to get the result that could have seen them move second on the league table but resilient Mukura proved too tough to concede a goal.
Francis Haringigo’s Blues, on the other side, continue to struggle for form after they were stunned 2-0 by Musanze FC at Ubworoherane Stadium.
Goals from Peter Agblevor and Namanda Wafura in the 84th and in the 87th minutes were enough to for the hosts to shock a Rayon Sports side that played the second half with ten players after referee Abdul Twagirumukiza showed Samuel Ndizeye a red card over an unsportsmanlike foul on Musanze’s Valeur Nduwayo.
Meanwhile, Gasogi put more misery on SC Kiyovu with a comfortable 3-1 victory at Kigali Stadium, a result that could see head coach Alain-André Landeut sacked at any time.
Elsewhere, Rwamagana City beat Espoir FC 1-0, while Police FC on Sunday lost 1-0 to Gorilla FC. Sunrise FC beat Bugesera FC 1-0 while Etincelles Rutsiro FC played out a goalless draw.
As it stands, Rayon Sports remains at the top of the table with 22 points, two points ahead of second-placed Kiyovu while APR come third with 19 points.
