Speaking to Times Sport yesterday Disi, 29 said his manager confirmed to him that he could not meet the set conditions for UAE’s classic.
‘My manager confirmed that I am not eligible for the event. So I will not run the event,” said Disi.
In the meantime, Disi, Godfrey Rutayisire, Sylvain Rukundo and Jean Baptiste Simukeka are among the over 400 athletes registered for this weekend’s National Rendezvous championship at Amahoro national stadium.
Rendezvous National, is the final event on this year’s athletics calendar and it runs today and tomorrow.
Disciplines to be competed in range from 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500, 5000m, 10,000m, short and long relays, Short Put, Javelin and Discus among others.
Italy based Rukundo and Simukeka have been training here for the last four weeks, while Disi, who is based in France has also spent the last 14 days in intensive training for the two day event which will attract participants from the Military, Police, civilians and students.
The two-day event is sponsored by the ministry of Sport and Culture, and CNLG, the national commission for the fight against Genocide.
