Rwanda Development Board (RDB) will offer English lessons to over 1000 motorcycle taxi operators grouped under their association, Assetemorwa.
The development was revealed by RDB’s Team Leader of skills development, Apollo Munanura, at the launch of the training which started with 25 students.
The month long training will be conducted at Kicukiro College of Technology.
"This is the beginning. In January next year, 1000 motorists will undertake English lessons.”
The training will be conducted in five batches of 200 motorcyclists.
Munanura said that the riders need the lessons to help them in communicating with the different kinds of people they meet in the course of their work.
He said the Workforce Development Authority (WDA) will also be involved in the project by providing customer care lessons.
