PARLIAMENT - The newly appointed Minister of Finance and Economic Planning John Rwangombwa, and the State Minister for Energy and Water, Eng. Colette Uwineza Ruhamya, were sworn-in yesterday before President Paul Kagame at a function held in Parliament.

Rwangombwa who was appointed Finance Minister in the recent cabinet reshuffle, served as the Permanent Secretary and Secretary to the Treasury in the same ministry while Uwineza was the vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Kigali Institute of Science & Technology (KIST).

Speaking at the swearing in ceremony, President Kagame welcomed the new ministers and urged for teamwork within government officials when it comes to executing their duties.

"Let’s work closely as a team for economic development and the welfare of our people,” the President said.

President said the new members join cabinet with vast experience and told them that they find an equally experienced team, which will give them all the support they need.

Kagame added that the main objective of the government is to work for the people driving them towards sustainable development based of economic growth and social welfare.

Uwineza replaces the former State Minister for Energy, Dr. Albert Butare, who was dropped in the recent cabinet reshuffle while Rwangombwa replaces his former boss, James Musoni, who was transferred to head the Local Government Ministry.
