KAYONZA – Women must not abuse the freedom they have earned if the quest for gender equality is to be sustained, women leaders from the Eastern Province have said.
The women leaders added that women must be in position to balance equality with respect for men.
The discussion was held during a ceremony to close the 21-day civic education program in Mukarange sector, Kayonza district.
Jeanne d’arc Nyiraneziryayo, 41, from Mwurire sector, Rwamagana district said that attending the civic education program cleared a lot of confusion among women.
"We couldn’t draw the line between equality and respect. The two to me, contradicted each other,” Nyiraneziryayo said. "But now, I know how to respect my husband to maintain dialogue in our family.”
