NINE lucky Rwandans will have a chance of watching next year’s World Cup finals in South Africa courtesy of the 2010 Fifa World Cup promotion campaign launched by MTN Rwanda this week.

Speaking to the media on Monday, MTN Chief Executive Officer Khaled Mikkawi said the promotion campaign which begun on Monday will run for 4 weeks.

Mikkawi explained that to take part in the competition, customers need to SMS the word ‘MTN’ and send it to 2010. The more sms’s one sends, the higher their chances of winning.

According to Mikkawi, the winners will receive fully paid tickets to go and watch the matches during the Fifa 2010 World Cup which gets underway on June 11.

"MTN took its soccer sponsorship international by becoming Africa’s first ever global sponsor of a Fifa World Cup.
"This sponsorship gives us the exclusive mobile content rights for Africa and the middle east as well as global marketing rights,” Mikkawi said.

He added that the promotion campaign is fully supported by Fifa, who have availed MTN official tickets to ensure their Rwandan customers attend the show piece.

The lucky winners will be flown to South Africa, accommodated in top hotels, experience the matches live and flown back to Rwanda after the one-month long tournament.

Meanwhile, a number of other prizes will be won. These prizes include flat screen TVs, motorbikes, FM radios, airtime and an assortment of MTN goddies.

The customer promotion was announced in the presence of the Minister of Sports and Culture Joseph Habineza and MTN Chief Operation Officer Andrew Rugege.
