Rwanda Allied for Peace and Progress (RAPP) in partnership with Population Service International (PSI Rwanda) is organizing a three-week mass sensitization on HIV-AIDS in Nyarugenge district.

Gideon Bihonzi, the Executive Director of RAPP, said that the residents will be sensitized on condom use and encouraged to go for testing.

"We are getting help from various NGOs to provide assistance in condom use, blood testing and counseling in every sector,” he said.

He said that 30 NGOs will be involved in the exercise.
During the meeting that brought together NGOs and health units from the district, it was agreed to facilitate the sensitization exercise with counselors and transportation to the respective areas.

The sensitization will start in December and end in January next year.

Christella Bukeyeneza, the technical assistant of CDLS, an NGO uniting districts in the fight against AIDS, said that it is mandatory that everyone is sensitized on AIDS.

"We want them to understand the use of condoms. It is everyone’s right,” she said. 

RAPP started operating in 2003 has been running a behavioral change and social marketing program in the country with an aim of increasing access to lifesaving products.

It is funded by the United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
