The teenager took the men’s top prize after a 3-1 set victory over Jean Birungi while Fontaine Mukamuhizi defeated Apollinaire Nyiraziraje by a similar score to walk away with the ladies’ accolade.

The teenager took the men’s top prize after a 3-1 set victory over Jean Birungi while Fontaine Mukamuhizi defeated Apollinaire Nyiraziraje by a similar score to walk away with the ladies’ accolade.
In the junior category, Hussein Nshimiyimana defeated Venant Nsengiyumva 3-1 in the boys’ category while Colombe Umurungi shattered Francine Niyonsenga in straight sets (3-0) in the girl’s final.
Oscar Rurangwa dominated the veterans’ category while Serge Nkaka ousted Edouard Hitayezu 3-1 in the disabled category.
After the event, the national table tennis federation development manager Celestin
Nzeyimana told Times Sport that the tournament was held to assess the level of the sport in the country.
"This was one of the major tournaments for the federation and it gave us a clear view of where we are,” Nzeyimana said.
