Rwanda’s cricket team on Friday, November 25, progressed to the final qualification round of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup that will be held in Namibia, in December.
During the just-concluded Africa Group A qualifier, in Kigali, the hosts played their final Group A game against Lesotho looking to cement their place to the final round of the World Cup qualifier.
Martin Suji’s men posted 192 runs in the first innings but Lesotho’s turn to bowl was interrupted by rain and the teams ended up taking home a point each.
With the result, the hosts finished second to Group A winners, Kenya. The two teams hence progressed to the final round of the Africa qualifier.
They join Zimbabwe, Namibia and Uganda in the final stages with two more spots up for grabs from the Group B qualifier which will also be played in Kigali from December 1-9.
The Group B qualifier will bring together eight countries: Cameroon, Eswatini, Gambia, Ghana, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Tanzania.
