The national football side, the Amavubi Stars have started residentail training ahead in preparations the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup due next month in Dar es Salaam.

The 26-man squad has picthed camp in Gisenyi where they would stay for the next fortnight before departing for the two-week tournament.

Team manager Jean Pierre Bavuzingago said, ‘They will train for two days before returning back to their respective clubs for Wednesday’s league matches and after that, they would return to the camp until the time of traveling to Tanzania.’

The names of the 26 players were selected by Ferwafa’s technical team at the federation’s headquarters last week.

The tournament would be the first major assigment for new coach Josip Kuze and his assistants Antoinne Rustindura and Jean Marie Ntagwabira with Thomas Higiro as the goalkeepers’ coach.

Rwanda was drawn in group B along with rivals Uganda. Other countries in the group include Eritrea and Djibouti.
The Amavubi Stars finished third last year under Michael Nees in Ethiopia but they would be hoping to go a step or two better under Kuze.

The players in camp include, Eric Ndayiragije (Atraco), Ben Mandela (Police) and Ramadhan Nkuzingoma (APR), Ismail Nshutinamagara(Atraco), Bonaventure Hategikimana(Rayon), Aloua Gaseruka(APR), Aimable Rucogoza(Rayon), Arafat Serugendo(Mukura), Mbuyu Twite(APR).

Others are, Donatien Tuyisenge(Atraco), Olivier Uwingabire(Rayon), Elias Ntaganda(APR), Patrick Mafisango (Atraco), Manfred Kizito (Atraco), Jean Shyaka (Atraco), Jean Batista Mugiraneza (APR), Haruna Niyonzima (APR), Kalisa Kase (Rayon), Hegman Ngoma (APR) and Rodriquez Murengezi (Mukura), Labama Bokota (Rayon), Abedi Mulenda (Atraco), Daniel Karekezi (Mukura), Eric Serugaba (APR), Roger Tuyisenge (Rayon) and Elias Uzamukunda (APR).
