RWANDA’S poor show at the on-going ITF/CAT East Africa U-18 tennis circuit in Kampala has been blamed on lack of experience and shortage of tournaments for the players.

According to Coach Sylvain Rutikanga, the talent is there but the players lack that zeal and never-say-die spirit which usually comes with more competitions.

"The guys are still lacking in experience. They need more tournaments to raise their game further,” Rutikanga noted.
On Wednesday, Mele Bizimana and Christian Rudasingwa hit the exit of the doubles category after losing out in straight sets to the Kenya pair of Gilbert Kibet and Dennis Ochieng.

The pair lost 1-4, 3-4 after the matches were shortened due to rain.

Gatete Hamisi and Desire Nkurutsu also lost out to Reynecke Hermanus and Roos Dion Paul of South Africa 1-4 and 2-4.

In the girls’ category, Gisele Umumararungu and Filadaus Kiza were no match for Van Wyk Veruska Monique (South Africa) and Benin’s N’tcha Stephanie after a 3-4, 1-4 defeat.
