RUSIZI — In a bid to increase access to information among learners and teachers, the district has provided satellite dishes to three secondary schools.

Mayor Jean Pierre Turatsinze said the recipient schools of Gishoma , Nkombo and Nyabitimbo secondary schools would have increased access to international events and improve cooperation with surrounding residents through increased interaction whenever there is international football match.

"The main objective of giving TV Satellite dishes to the three secondary schools was to allow students, teachers and residents around those schools to easily access available information including international news”, he said.

"It would also enable people in the area to watch international football such as premiership league without traveling long distances to watch their favorite English clubs”.

He added that the move would minimise idleness among students during their free time.

For Joseph Kamanzi, a teacher at Nyabitimbo secondary school, the donation would cut down on expenditures previously incurred on entertainment.

"We have been spending a lot of money and time traveling long distances in search of places screening our favorite international football teams. Now it’s no longer a problem’.
