KIBUYE head coach Casimir Nkurikiye has rubbished claims that his club has flouted Ferwafa rules by fielding foreign players in the second division.

The local football governing body rules stipulate that the second division league is not open to foreign players but the Western Province club, which was relegated from the top flight last season, has been accused by other second division clubs of keeping foreign players in their squad.

Nkurikiye yesterday denied the allegations insisting that the players in the limelight are Rwandans because they have acquired Rwandan nationality.

"Those allegations are baseless. The players in question are Rwandans. The documents are there to prove it and they will certainly play for us this season,” Nkurikiye said.  

The players in question include Hassan Niyigena (goal keeper), Jean Bizimana (defender), Hassan Mbiri (midfielder) and Sadamu Hakimana (defender).

Ferwafa yesterday said that they had not received any official complaint about Kibuye.

"Nothing has reached our desk yet but the penalty for fielding a foreign player is clear,” the body’s CEO Jules Kalisa told Times Sport.
