EASTERN PROVINCE:

RWAMAGANA — Governor Theoneste Mutsindashyaka has implored district leaders in the east to double their performance or resign their positions.

Mutsindashyaka made the remarks last week while addressing a meeting of district, sector and cell leaders held at AVEGA center aimed at evaluating performance.

"To hell with laziness; on every visit I will always move with a pen and piece of paper so that I take note of non performers.

When I find out that a certain leader is not delivering I give you the pen and paper and then you write your resignation letter immediately,” he said, urging those who were not ready to work hard to tender in their resignation letters.

After a lengthy presentation of the achievements, the governor asked participants to suggest the way forward and adopt them in performance contracts for next year.

As the saying goes; "if wishes were horses, every man would ride a horse”, he said in reference to his priority areas for next year.

Mutsindashyaka asked participants to among other things ensure descent housing for genocide survivors, and other residents, buying computers to lower administrative Cells, construction of terraces, and having people live in designated communal settlements [Umudugudu] as priority areas.

On economic revolution, the governor said he would wish seeing every resident in the Province earning atleast Frw100,000 per month.

He commissioned the director of finance to lay strategies for increased district’s internal revenue.

In his closing remarks he reaffirmed the ministry of health directive restricting common practice of sharing drinking straws in local pubs.
