Editor,
I think Tigo’s advertising campaign is fresh and for the first time we get to see and know what a company is offering and how much we will be paying for.
Also, Tigo has launched its network coverage in all four regions outside Kigali and this shows commitment to the Rwandan Market.
The letter to the editor dated November 26th, deliberately doesn’t mention that MTN rates to call other operators is Rwf2.1 per second or Rwf126 per minute at any time-- probably the most expensive rate of all telecom rates in the country!
Whilst Tigo is clearly saying that their rates (which is not a promotion) to call any other network is Rwf1.5 per second or Rwf90 Rwf per minute.
That letter also doesn’t say that MTN’s so called rate of Rwf78 is a promotion that will soon end, just like any other promotion that MTN does. By whats the rush, why so many promotions all of a sudden? Why now?
That’s not all; regarding MTN ZONE can anybody tell me how it works? Or when it works?
What is also not simple with MTN is their per second tariff which states, "MTN Per Second gives you the most for your money if your average call during peak hours is less than 43 seconds.” What does that mean? Can someone explain that to me because it does not make sense?
I am glad Tigo has arrived and can’t wait to see what else they have to offer during their promotions.
I’m glad that finally a company is telling Rwandans how much we will pay, and I have to say that compared to MTN my Tigo cards last much longer and I’m calling everywhere in and outside of Rwanda without feeling a pinch!
