The Minister of Health Dr. Richard Sezibera last week said that out of the 1.2 million children who were checked countrywide in April this year, about 60,000 were underfed.
The Minister said this during the opening of the First National Nutrition Summit that took place in Kigali.

Sezibera said that, "some children in Rwanda are malnourished as a result of poor feeding, poverty or being born with HIV/AIDS.”

He also said that the government has put in place some urgent interventions to ensure that these children recover.

There are plans of designing feeding methods at district and sector levels which will eliminate this problem.
