‘Our court has only two court rooms and this becomes a problem when we have many cases to hear,’ Alex Hitimana said.
The judge made the remarks last Friday, after presenting to public the court’s annual achievements.
He said however, that the 2004 judicial reforms in the country have helped them to register tremendous improvement.
‘In 2003, 11 judges in the former Umutara court completed 172 cases. But in 2005 after the judicial reforms, 342 cases were disposed of by only five judges,’ he said. "Similar improvements have been registered at the primary courts in Nyagatare and Gatsibo districts.
