With pleasure, I write to express the gratitude I feel about the EAC move on corruption.

Finally the whole EAC bloc is on board. With the increased corruption rates, intensified efforts should be stepped up in the partner states.

After the recent signing of the Common Market Protocol, eliminating corruption comes in handy.

If this is done, there will be heightened regional socio-economic activities and stressed ethics and integrity in order to achieve the set objectives.

The backbone of an integrated EAC will depend on the free movement of people, goods, services, capital as well as rights of residence and establishment.

With corruption, the above cannot happen and development will be a myth. 

Through anti-corruption, ethics and integrity will be maintained as the four pillars of the EAC Good Governance Framework. If all the five EAC states took this to heart, there will be no reason for any state to remain lagging behind in development.

As Rwandans and East African citizens at large, let’s tackle this corruption disease if we want to achieve our Vision 2020 development goals.
