SEVENTEEN local basketball coaches were yesterday awarded level-one coaching certificates at Amahoro Indoor Stadium.
The week-long training, conducted by Fiba’s international instructor Claude Constantine was organised by the national basketball federation (Ferwaba) under the auspices of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
Constantine also acts as the vice-president of Fiba’s coaches association.
"With the training and knowledge they have acquired, they can now train senior teams,” Ferwaba’s technical adviser Innocent Karuhije said.
Karuhije had earlier noted that there was a huge void in the coaching department.
‘It is a big step but there is still a lot of work to be done to take the sport to the next level.”
