RAF chief urges athletes to seek minimums

THE president of Rwanda Athletics Federation (RAF) Jean Paul Munyandamutsa has urged athletes to seek early qualification for next year’s Africa Athletics championship in Kenya. “We expect to be a part of the 2010 Africa Championships so it is imperative that athletes starting seeking early qualification starting with next month’s Rendezvous National,” said Munyandamutsa.

THE president of Rwanda Athletics Federation (RAF) Jean Paul Munyandamutsa has urged athletes to seek early qualification for next year’s Africa Athletics championship in Kenya.

"We expect to be a part of the 2010 Africa Championships so it is imperative that athletes starting seeking early qualification starting with next month’s Rendezvous National,” said Munyandamutsa.

Over three hundred athletes are expected to compete in this year’s Rendezvous National which is slated for December 19 to 20.

Munyandamutsa added that the two-day event would help RAF hand pick athletes who will travel to Singapore for the 2010 World Junior Championships.

Rendezvous National will attract athletes from the Ministry of Education (Minispoc), ministry of defense (MoD), ministry of local government (Minaloc) and the Police.

The event will be jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Sports and Culture (Minispoc) and CNLS.

Rwanda’s top athletes - Dieudonné Disi, Godfrey Rutayisire, Sylvain Rukundo and Jean Baptiste Simukeka are expected to participate.
