RAYON Sport’s gifted striker Joseph Kaniki has joined Swedish premier division league club Gefle IF on a two-year contract deal.

Kaniki together with fellow Tanzanian Haruna Moshi secured contracts with the Swedish clubs after passing trials recently.

Ndumbalo Soccer Agency managing director Damas Ndumbalo who also doubles as the manager of Kaniki confirmed the development recently to the Tanzania media.

"The pair flew to Sweden for trials early this month and both have passed their trials,” he said.

Ndumbalo further added that Kaniki’s contract with the Blues had run out adding that the player has already applied for his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) from Rwanda’s soccer body, Ferwafa.

However, Rayon insists that the player is still under contract.

The club’s secretary general Olivier Gakwaya claims that Kaniki still has one year on his contract.

"He is still a Rayon Sport player because he still has one year left on his contract,” Gakwaya said.

It is the second transfer case for the Blues who also saw their off-season signing Aime Ndanda Ndizeye join Ethiopia’s St. George.

The former APR goalkeeper had penned a two-year deal with the Blues after being released by APR at the end of last season.
