In a turn of events, Partie Sociale (PS-Imberakuri) has joined the Forum for Political Parties (FPP) days after its leader; Bernard Ntaganda, vowed never to join the group.
The party was unveiled as part of the forum yesterday during the election of new office bearers of the political parties’ grouping.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Ntaganda said that his party does not agree with the forum and vowed never to be part of it.

During the General Assembly, Liberal Party (PL) president,  Protais Mitali, wished to know whether Ntaganda who had vowed never to join the forum, had changed his mind. 
"How can you join the forum yet you had indicated that it was doing nothing and how can we be sure that now you believe in it?” Mitali asked.

In his defence, Ntaganda said that, PS-Imberakuri isn’t an enemy of the government but rather a party advertising its own programs.

"We believe in having a peaceful country and peaceful elections. I am sorry if I have wronged anyone,” he said.
RPF’s Secretary General, Francois Ngarambe intervened to calm the situation.

"We would be lying to Rwandans if we say that everything discussed here has support from every political party. What we all agree on are the government programmes that aim at the well being of the citizens. Criticizing the forum mechanism is every one’s right,” said Ngarambe.

Recently, the new party was thrown in turmoil when its Secretary General, Noel Hakizimfura, and other senior party members, broke ranks with the mainstream party protesting Ntaganda’s ‘dictatorial’  leadership.

Rwanda Labour Party (PSR)’s president, Jean Baptiste Rucibigango, was elected new FPP spokesperson, replacing Musa Fazil Harerimana, who had been in office for the last six months. Senator Alvera Mukabaramba was elected vice spokesperson.

Harerimana the Minister of Internal Security also doubles as the president of Ideal Democratic Party (PDI).
