Editor,
I would like to commend the various efforts that the government of Rwanda and various organizations are doing to resolve the problem of orphans and street children in the country.
The mere fact that people take it upon themselves to finance, feed, clothe and spend time with these children is an encouragement.
Of recent, various campaigns are underway to ensure that Rwanda’s children are in safe hands. Not only are they being protected, they are also being educated and given shelter at the various orphanages and children’s homes.
I was impressed by the youth of the ‘Peace and Love Proclaimers’ (PLP) who tirelessly, collect necessities, visit and entertain various orphanages.
Through doing this they encourage others to denounce child abuse and advocate for children’s rights as a way towards reconciliation and development in the society.
I would like to encourage more Rwandans who are able to do the same and take care of the vulnerable children in our society. All Rwandans should remember that every child has a right and treat each child like your own.
