MUSANZE – Three former secondary school students who were imprisoned for forging school reports, yesterday walked out of Ruhengeri central prison after serving a 3 -year jail term.

Emmanuel Mutuyimana, 19, Evariste Twizerimana, 20, and Daniel Nsabimana all former students of ESTB, in Busogo were sentenced to jail in 2006, for forging reports and stealing the school stamp.

"The conditions in prison are very harsh, our friends have disowned us, I’m worried of life here, everything has changed in a short time,’’ Mutuyimana, told The New Times shortly after regaining his freedom.

Mutuyimana, young, energetic and healthy looking boy, who lost all his parents at the age of 10, said he is determined to draw lessons from his ugly past, by working hard and going back to school.

Narrating their ordeal, the trio, attributed the source of their trouble to their ardent love for films, skipping class and drinking local brew.

Mutuyimana, was the first to be caught with a fake school report after which he revealed his accomplices.
He appealed to well-wishers to help him adjust to live outside prison.
