GATSIBO/NYAGATARE - Over 400 A’ level leavers have so far arrived for three-week civic education training at different sites in Nyagatare and Gatsibo districts.
More than three sites have been set aside for this programme in each district, according to sources.

At the different sites which The New Times visited on Tuesday, students were being seen checking in before the official launch of the training.

According to officials from the national civic education programme commonly known as ‘Itorero ry’Igihugu’, this year’s training will be held in students’ home districts.
At Gakoni site, 405 students out of the 700 expected, had already arrived.

Bishop Kihangire, the executive secretary of Karamuruzi sector told The New Times, that students have shown interest in the training.

Students said that attending the training in their respective home districts was less costly.

‘It was very hard for my elder sister to afford travelling to Nkumba last year when she completed senior six. But for me I just used Rwf300 to reach here,’ Scovia Muhoza, a former student of Kabuga High School said in an interview.

In Nyagatare district, the program was officially launched by the district mayor, Fred Sabbiti Atuhe at Nyagatare Secondary School.
