The whereabouts of two Rwandan passenger travelling in the ill fated Kigali - bound Tanzanian bus are not yet known, The New Times has learnt

According to Rwanda’s Ambassador to Tanzania Fatuma Ndagiza, the embassy is still waiting for an official communication from Tanzanian authorities to ascertain the whereabouts of the accident victims.

The Taqwa coach bus carrying 45 passengers was on Saturday involved in a head-on collision with a fuel tanker that saw the bus burst into flames.

"We don’t know yet if that passenger is alive or not. Reports from those who survived the accident indicate that one passenger is still missing,” Ndagiza said.

However, Rwandan officials who yesterday accompanied the injured passengers to the Rusumo border post confirmed that another one person was still missing.

The New Times has also established that the driver of the bus died instantly, bringing the number of those confirmed dead to three.

It is said that most of the Rwandan passengers traveling on the bus were students who were coming from a study tour at the University of Dar es Salaam.

Internal Security minister, Musa Fazil Harerimana, who is heading the coordination committee in charge of tracking the accident details, said that the six injured passengers were out of danger and that a medical team was ready to receive them at the border post.
