KAMPALA - Smiles Communications, a new telecommunication company that was unveiled in Kampala, Uganda on Friday is eyeing entrance into the Rwandan market.
Irene Charnely, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Smiles Communications told Business Times that the telecommunication firm is set to spread its wings into the Rwandan market.
"Since we have started to operate in Uganda our next target is Rwanda” she said in an interview.
She noted that Rwanda is a good country with a good business environment, and that she hopes Rwandans will be excited to see entrance of Smiles Communications.
The South African based telecommunications operator launched its services in Uganda promising to offer affordable, personalized wireless communication service that target bottom of the pyramid consumers.
If Smiles succeeds in introducing its operations in Rwanda, the move will push the number of mobile operators in the country to four, increasing the competition in Rwanda’s telecommunication industry.
