An American country music group, The Trio will be holding several concerts in the country to promote the American culture.

Addressing a press conference yesterday at the United States Embassy premises, the Public Affairs Officer, Edwina Sagitto, explained that the country music stars’ visit was meant to promote mutual understanding between America and Africa. 

"Music is a good instrument that can bridge the cultural gap. Sharing culture and creating friendship are some of the mutual understanding elements we promote between our countries,” Sagitto said.

"Most people have a misconception of American culture basing on what they see in different Hollywood films, but we have a good culture that has not been displayed in these films that people need to know,”

The trio comprising of Bob Livingston (a singer/song writer and a guitarist), Richard Bowden (Violin) and Bradley Kopp (guitar) will conduct several workshops with Rwandan artists in an exchange of culture.

Their tour to Africa is sponsored by the US State Department.

"I am glad to be part of this US Department of State music tour initiative, I believe we are also going to learn much from the music of Rwanda,” group leader Livingston said.

The musician, who is also State Department Music Ambassador, has performed in Pakistan, Yemen, Vietnam, Thailand and India.
