KARONGI – A total of 528 women from the Western province yesterday started the traditional civic education training popularly known as Ingando.

The three week training held at a local secondary school in Gishyita Sector is part of an ongoing country wide exercise.
Speaking at the official opening, Western Province Executive Secretary, Paul Jabo, pointed out the need to adhere to government policies that are meant for the benefit of the population.

"Women play a very vital role in the development of the country and they should turn up for such programmes,” Jabo said.

He urged participants to pass on the acquired information to their counterparts who did not get the chance of attending the training.

"I know that with the efforts this government has invested in helping women achieve their dreams, it will not take long before it happens,” Eugene Makurata, one of the participants observed.

The government of Rwanda introduced civic training two years ago for different categories of people in order to promote awareness about the country’s history for the sake of fostering unity and communal well being.
