MUHANGA — The Minister of Labour and Public Service has asked all retrenched public servants to be more innovative while putting into use government support offered to them. 

Anastase Murekezi, made the remarks last week while awarding certificates to 102 retrenched civil servants who had completed a two- week training in entrepreneurship and project management.

The course was conducted by the Rwanda Institute of Administration and Management (RIAM) in Murambi.

The Minister disclosed that the trained group will receive government support in a period of five months after submitting micro projects proposals to a special task force team . 

Murekezi said: "The loans should be properly utilised so as to allow more beneficiaries to be included. This calls for discipline in order to improve personal welfare and ultimately contribute to the development of the country.”  

He reiterated that the government restructuring process was still ongoing, adding that the performance of the supported groups will guarantee more loans from various banks. 

The Taskforce Team chairman, Jean de Dieu Ntiruhungwa, noted that the financed projects for former civil servants were performing well and 90% of those who received loans have been able to repay.

The trainees asked for timely financing of their projects and support from the government.

They pledged to spearhead community development by putting to good use the acquired entrepreneurship skills.
