A RAMBLING MIND : Amavubi sting no more

So what the fuss? That we didn’t go to Angola? Hell no, we shouldn’t have with the team we have. I rarely rumble about sports but that does not mean that I am not a sports commentator or am green in regard to sports. I know my sports by the way, I am sure I can do a better job than this Branko Tucak man.

I am yet to forward my CV to FERWAFA so that I can relieve Tucak of his misery of managing the sting less Amavubi.

I swear this man is better off doing something else, like coaching a village team or change to say rugby or baseball, the man has nothing soccer in him, he can do a better job trading his theatrics in Hollywood.

Yes we didn’t go to Angola because the boys supposed to put two goals past Zambia tried to do so and failed even before the eyes of the President. Not even the huge bonuses given to them could motivate them to do so.

I am left wondering whether people do not have better things to do than going to the stadium to watch the same ‘old’ (as in literally old) people they have paid money to watch over and over but at the end of the day same thing; no goals.

There is a coach in England called Harry Redknapp who at one moment, when his striker missed a very clear chance, the one they call a sitter, he called him on the touchline and told him "Darren, my wife could have scored”.

I swear ‘our boys’ (I don’t know if they still qualify to be called our boys) let us down big time and I think they owe us an apology.

I really have no kind words for them. Some of the chances they missed against a shaky Zambia, also in a goal drought, my Grandmother could have scored them.

At some stage I felt like I wanted to enter the TV and score those chances (thank God I didn’t go to the stadium) myself.

I got so angry that I could bust with rage that particular Saturday when the so called ‘Amavubi stars’ could not even care a bit about a nations hopes and dreams.

Just two goals; that is all we wanted people, can’t you just do that for a nation on its knees? I know boys who play football in a dusty pitch in my neighbourhood who could have scored 3 goals against Zambia.

The first thing I would do if I was in charge, is to give Tucak a one way ticket to Zagreb (so that he doesn’t return), and probably some contract termination remuneration so that he can go and start a career in growing grapes (I hear vineyards do very well in Croatia) and ensure that the only thing he would have to do with football again, is watching it on TV.

As for the team (I swear most of them seem to be high on some substance), I would first take them to court to face treason charges and send them to 1930 University of Understanding, where they can get lessons in being patriotic.

I would then start nurturing a team of young people between 10-15 years, I don’t care if we miss the next world cup or CAN, but are well guaranteed that at the next tournament, the young team will deliver.

Grrrrrr…..somebody overhaul the current team, dispatch the coach off to any place in the world for heavens sake or I will commit suicide.
