PSF closure worries businessmen

KARONGI – Local traders in the western region have expressed concern over the closure of the Private Sector Federation (PSF) regional offices in Karongi district.

The offices which concurrently run a Business Development Centre - an outreach programme serving the whole region shut down recently.

"We always got basic information on how best to improve our small scale businesses but now it may not happen again,” Vedaste Niyigena, an entrepreneur said.

Niyigena who had already tendered in a proposal to PSF for expansion of his business says his plans now hang in balance.

The premises which used to house the PSF offices has been already taken up by Rwanda Development Bank, new Karongi branch.

Emmanuel Hategeka, PSF boss however denied that their operations had come to an end.

"We are just changing the approach and introducing a new strategy. We have not closed down,” he said.
