Dear Editor,

It’s over a year now and the One Dollar Campaign has been on track. Today, the members and friends of AVEGA marched along the city’s roads with banners that reminded me of how far our brothers and sisters have come.

There are numerous efforts to help them cope up and live their lives normally and indeed this is working out.

I appreciate the move made by all the contributors in this country towards the One Dollar Campaign. With such commitment, comes responsibility towards the survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

This means that even when pledges are made, people need to own up to them; otherwise, the whole essence of the campaign becomes unnecessary.

It’s all about commitment and keeping your word. We all know that pledges without the actual money means nothing.

Let’s keep our words of dignity and make the One Dollar Campaign goals real.
