The country’s judicial sector is set to hold an accountability week which will involve open meetings all over the country as a strategy to reach out to the grass root level.

The accountability week begins November 23.
In an exclusive interview yesterday, Anne Gahongayire, the Secretary General of the Supreme Court,it was  revealed that during the week, judicial officials will hold dialogues with communities across the country highlighting achievements of the sector and explaining how the judiciary works.

She said that the sector has planned for a number of activities to promote community interaction with the legal system.

Activities will include public awareness, which will convey the true image of the judiciary highlighting the judicial reforms that have been undertaken in the past few years.

Gahongayire noted that real-life experiences have proven that the judicial system is capable of taking resolute decisions that brings justice to its citizens.

”The judiciary has come a long way, from dilapidated infrastructure to the state-of-the-art structures that host our courts,” she said, adding that human resources have also improved significantly.

The week will start with a press conference which is scheduled for today at Serena Hotel and is expected to be hosted by Chief Justice, Aloysia Cyanzayire.
