AMAVUBI Stars have been drawn against Cosafa champions Zimbabwe in Group B of this year’s Orange Cecafa Challenge Cup slated for November 28-December 13 in Kenya.
With Somalia and Eritrea completing the group, many believe that Group B is the easiest of the three groups.
Rwanda opens her quest for the regional title with a tie against Somalia on November 29 before facing Eritrea on December 3.
The Wasps will then wind up their group stage campaign on December 5 with a tough test against Zimbabwe.
Amavubi fans expect the team to make amends after staging an appalling show in the 2010 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers.
The team put up a forgettable show after finishing bottom of their group with two points out of a possible 18.
Zimbabwe walk into the regional show piece after winning Southern Africa’s Cosafa Senior Challenge for a record fourth time after a 3-1 victory over Zambia in Harare.
Zimbabwe now has one more title than Zambia, South Africa and Angola, who have won the tournament three times apiece.
Group A has hosts Kenya, Zambia, Ethiopia and Djibouti while Group B pits defending champions Uganda with Tanzania, Zanzibar and Burundi.
However, Uganda remains a doubt after reports that the country’s football governing body (Fufa) is cash-stripped.
The top two teams and the best two placed third teams from the three groups will progress to the quarter finals.
The tournament will be held at Nyayo Stadium and Mumias Sports Complex.
The games will be live on Kenya’s KBC and SuperSport.
