OBRADOVIC Tomislav will stand in for besieged Amavubi head coach Branko Tucak at this year’s Orange Challenge Cup which kicks off next Saturday in Kenya.
According to a reliable source, Tomislav, who recently signed a new contract to continue coaching the Junior Wasps (Amavubi U-21), has been entrusted with the task by the local football governing body (Ferwafa).
It is also said that the Croat will be in charge of the team when Rwanda features in the qualifiers of the Africa Nations’ Cup Championship reserved for players featuring in the domestic leagues on the continent.
Tomislav took over as Junior Wasps coach in 2007, at time when the team was preparing to compete in the 2009 African Youth Championship. Rwanda failed to get past the group stages.
While Ferwafa’s decision to go with Tomislav has increased speculation that Tucak’s days as Amavubi coach are numbered, it is a great opportunity for the former to showcase his capabilities.
Tucak’s future will be decided before the end of this week. After failing to qualify Rwanda to next year’s Africa Nations Cup (CAN) in Angola, there is increasing speculation that the axe in going to fall on the under-fire Croat.
