DAVIS Kashaka is hoping to clinch his second Rwanda Open title with a big performance starting with today’s day one. The four-day golf show piece has attracted 15 professionals and over 100 amateur golfers from Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Burundi.

The handicap 02 golfer has it all to do at Kigali Golf Club over the next four days against local boys Olivier Munyaneza and Ernest Ndayisenga and Uganda’s pair of Vincent Byamukama and Opio Onito.

However, Kashaka is in good form and is not short on confidence after winning last Saturday’s November MTN monthly mug and the 2009 MTN/Ericsson Open two weeks ago.

"I’m feeling very good about my game now. I’m playing well and if I play true to form, I should be able to do well,” said the 2002 Rwanda Open champion.

"Every sportsman sets out to win and I’m no different. We only want to do our best out there and hopefully our best is good enough to win.”

In the professional category, heads will roll when Rwanda’s pair Emmanuel Ruterana and Jean Baptist Hakizimana line up against thirteen other professionals from Uganda, Kenya and Burundi.

Deo Akope, who finished fourth in 2008 will lead Uganda’s surge while Ainley Richard will do it for Kenya.

Professionals are vying for a share of US$5000.
