Amavubi’ Swedish based midfielder Olivier Karekezi (Pictured) scored in Helsingborg 4-1 victory over Elfsborg in the Allsvenskan league.

Karekezi opened the scoring for Helsingborg to give his club a 1-0 lead at the interval.

Mali international Razak Omotoyossi scored the second before former Barcelona striker Henrik Larsson scored a brace to leave Helsingborg eighth on the league table with 35 points.

The defeat left Elfsborg in fourth spot with 40 points. James Keene scored the consolation for Elfsborg.

IFK Gotenburg tops the table with 49 points while Kalmar and Djurgardens follow in second and third positions with 48 and 46 points respectively.

After Karekezi’s performance on Wednesday, there is a big chance that he could start in Helsingborg’s next Uefa Cup fixture against Wien Austria.

Karekezi signed for Helsingborg in 2005 after parting company with APR and scored 16 goals in 2005 and 2006.
This year, Karekezi has scored only six goals in the league and two goals in the Uefa Cup championship respectively.
