Local Radio, Isango Star has announced the list of nominees for the annual 'Isango na Muzika Awards' which is going to be held for the third time.
The Awarding ceremony is slated for December 17, at the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel in Kigali.
Big names including Bruce Melodie, Kenny Sol, Bwiza, Christopher, Nel Ngabo, Fireman, The Ben are among the contestants in two categories.
According to Alex Kavukire, the chief producer, reducing categories was due to limited finances and lack of some qualities in the organising committee.
"Some categories like ‘Best Video’ aren’t needed because we already have the ‘best video director’ category, so if we award him/her it means that we considered the best videos he/she has made” Kavukire told The New Times on Tuesday.
He added: "for the Best Actor and Actress we decided to stop it because of the lack of quality in the organising team in that field. For example last year we awarded the Best Movie Actor and Actress, but people kept on complaining that we don’t know the difference between cinema and comedy.”
Kavukire asked the Rwandan music lovers to support their artists.
He said: "I ask the local music fans to support their artists in the coming votes, lastly I thank them for the support and trust they have shown to us since day one.”
The other removed categories are; the Best Actor and Actress, Best HipHop, and the Best Culture and Traditional.
After the announcement of the nominees for these awards, it is expected that in the coming days the means of supporting them in the elections will be announced.
