The Country director of Lutheran World Federation (LWF) has dismissed recent media reports that they are set to close their operations by the end of the year.

Hermine Nikolaisen who heads the humanitarian Christian organization that has been operating in the country for the last 15 years said that the organisation is in its consolidation phase and has not thought of winding up its operations in the country.

"We have not decided when we will (close down). We are still operating and our closure has not been tackled. Right now we are still focused on completing what we started and rumors that we want to close are just rumors,” she added

She said LWF has spent about $60m in various sustainable development projects since it began operating in Rwanda during the aftermath of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi.

The funds were spent on the community-based activities of water provision, ensuring food security and environment conservation.

The organisation this year focused its activities on the agricultural, biogas usage, solar power and social projects such as trauma counseling.
