DESPITE being eliminated from the 2011 U-20 World Cup qualifiers, Rwanda’s junior women football team coach Andreas Spier insists that there is a bright future for the team.

Rwanda who needed to overturn a 1-2 first leg defeat failed to rise to the occasion as Uganda’s she-hippos sealed their progress to the next stage after a painful 1-0 win at Regional stadium.

The German born tactician told Times Sport yesterday that the team is young and has both mental and tactical knowledge of the game.

"We certainly dominated the whole game but just couldn’t finish it off,” he admitted.

"We could have been three goals up in the first half, but we wasted the chances. What we need to work on is the striking department.”

After the elimination, focus will now turn to the women soccer league which gets underway on November 29th.
AS Kigali are the reigning champions.
