Close to 61,000 people are expected to take part in this year’s final national academy training ‘Itorero Ry’igihugu’ slated for November 20 in all districts across the country.

Speaking during a meeting organized for women representatives at the Foreign Affairs ministry yesterday, Itorero programme officer, Népo Rugemintwaza, called upon women to take keen interest in the one month course.

Rugemintwaza urged the women to actively be part of the nation’s rebuilding by passing on what they learn from the course to their children.

"You are the heart of the family. We expect you to be part of the national re-building which was destroyed right from colonialism 86 years ago that culminated in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.” 

Almost 3,700 women will participate in the informal education course. They will include women from all public institutions, wives of civil servants, faith groups and the private sector.

The course scheduled to end on December 15, will also be attended by all Senior Six students who are currently doing their national exams and all members of the National Youth Commission (NYC).

A total of 45,210 who include teachers, civil servants and Diaspora students among others, have so far gone through the same course since January.

The forthcoming events differ from previous ones since they will be held on provincial and district levels to accommodate the big number of participants.
