A total of 76 Rwandan Students were yesterday awarded post graduate degrees, undergraduate degrees and diplomas in various disciplines at Kampala International University (KIU) in Uganda.
This was during the institution’s sixth graduation ceremony since its inception in 2001.

The University which has many foreign students from Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi, Tanzania, Sudan, Somalia and Ethiopia, is a privately owned institution.

The graduation ceremony was presided over by the university chancellor, Justice George William Kanyeihamba, who awarded the graduates with their different academic accolades.

Kanyeihamba congratulated the students and urged them to be focused and give credit where it is due.

"Integrity and character cannot be bought, but it is an asset someone possesses” said Kanyeihmba while giving a keynote speech at the ceremony.

Speaking to The New Times, Jane Muhoracyeye, a Rwandan who obtained a Bachelor’s degree in social works and social administration, could not hide her joy.

"I am very happy that I made it!” she simply said.
Hassan Basajjabalaba the founder of KIU and the chairman of the board of trustees praised the Rwanda government for being strategic in attracting skilled man power in terms of education.

He singled out Rwanda out of other EAC partner states as a country that offers the best remuneration to employees.
