SILVERBACKS left for Kampala this morning with ambitions of winning silverware at this year’s Hima-Mak 10s tournament.
The 18-man contingent, involving 16 players and two officials travelled by road and should be in Kampala by 4pm this afternoon.
Silverbacks coach Gerald Nsenga told Times Sport yesterday that the team has the mental strength and determination to win something.
"The boys have been training really hard, and though it is their first major regional tournament this year, they are keen to show what they are made of,” Nsenga said.
The team is drawn in Group D alongside tournament hosts Hima Impis, Pirates and Summerkamp.
The two-day tournament, which starts tomorrow, has attracted 16 teams from Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia.
Hima Cement, Petroleum Company Shell, medical providers AAR, insurance firm UAP, Citibank and Uganda Breweries through its Bell Lager flag brand are the tournament sponsors.
The winner of the annual event will walk away with Rwf1.3m while the runners-up will be consoled with Rwf0.9m.
MTN Heathens are the reigning champions.
