Senior government officials including Cabinet Ministers met in their latest leadership retreat to examine programs and progress made in driving forward Rwanda’s development agenda. 

The meeting chaired by Prime Minister Bernard Makuza, reviewed actions pledged at the sixth leadership retreat held February 2009 in Kivu.

"As a government, we have an ambitious vision for our country. But having the right vision is nothing unless we are able to deliver change. That is why this retreat is so important. It focuses all of us in government on what we need to do to in the months ahead,” a statement from the retreat quoted Makuza as saying.

"We have achieved a lot since the last government retreat but the clear message from this retreat is that there are no grounds for complacency.  We need to work hard to ensure that the promises we make as a government are translated more quickly into actions that improve the lives of Rwandan people.”

The annual national leadership retreat is a key government process for setting strategic priorities and driving delivery.

To provide a strategic focus and to improve cross government working policy, issues are divided into 3 ‘cluster’ areas of Social, Governance and Economic.
