FORMER Liverpool and England midfielder John Barnes can’t wait to manage Rwanda’s Amavubi Stars, according to his agent Winston Clarke.

Clarke told Times Sport over the weekend that Barnes anticipates a positive outcome when sports minister Joseph Habineza meets Rwanda’s football governing body, Ferwafa to decide on the right man for the job.

"One exciting fact about Habineza is that he is a very keen football fan. I was hugely impressed with his knowledge of the game and the professional teams he admires,” Clarke noted before adding that Barnes has one thing on his agenda, to spur Rwandan football to greater heights.

Barnes is desperate to relaunch his coaching career after being sacked by Tranmere Rovers last month.

The 45-year-old was fired along with his assistant manager Jason McAteer after a wretched start to their League One campaign.

More recently, he was in the spotlight over bankruptcy but he rubbished those reports insisting that it was due to a tax oversight.
