• Longest River: The River Nile drains towards north-eastern Africa, and at 6,650 km, is the longest river in Africa and in the world.

• Lake Malawi contains the largest number of fish species unlike any other lake in the world, probably over 500 from ten families.

• Insect antennae are covered by tiny hairs that detect sounds, smells and chemical messages called pheromones.
