•Rwandan to represent EA bloc

Claver P. Ndimbati the Organizational Developmental Director at Red Cross-Rwanda, has been entrusted to represent the East African bloc on the Organization Development and Resource Mobilisation (OD/RM) steering committee.

This was during a two-day annual general meeting for Eastern Africa societies OD/RM working group under the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, held at the Red Cross headquarters in Kacyiru.

The meeting gives national societies a chance to exchange ideas, and share challenges in search for appropriate solutions in mobilization of resources, advocacy for national development issues, and development of technical works among others.

Under the Theme "Together for national society development,” the meeting attracted officials from about 14 member countries including Madagascar, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Uganda, and Sudan.

These countries are also categorized in three zones thus East Africa, Indian Ocean and Horn of Africa.

In an interview with Sunday Times, Ndimbati promised to use his position to create foreign relations and foster teamwork.

"Creating more relations and team work is a basic which I must employ to avoid disappointing and to also keep the confidence entrusted in me,” Ndimbati said.

Mathenge Wangechi from Kenya was also elected new chairman of the steering committee replacing Gebrie Alebachew from Ethiopia Red Cross. Burundian Bacinoni Balthazar became secretary and each zone got a representative.
