The highly anticipated appearance by Uganda crooner Jamal at B-Club on Thursday turned up to be a ‘no-show’.
The ‘Obawuwo’ musician, whose real name is Jamal Wasswa Rafiki didn’t sing even a single song following a disagreement with the organisers over payment.

The night was initially a zouk one, but he was expected to perform.

As time went on, the deejay started playing a number of tunes like ‘Abasinga Bayaye’ and ‘Obawuwo’, which propelled the dreadlocked Jamal to stardom.

It was clear that the musician, who was already in the club was going to perform for the anxious revellers but then the disappointing news was announced that, the soft spoken singer was not going to perform.

Intervention from different people could not convince the Ugandan star to stage even a single song for his waiting fans.

The dreadlocked star, who claims to be half Rwandan and half Ugandan, is not new in Rwanda as he kick-started his musical career in Rwanda back in 2006.

The rather calm vocalist started by doing Karaoke sessions at Nyira-Rock Bar before he decided to take it to a higher level.

Jamal recorded his track ‘Obawuwo’ in Kigali before relocating to Kampala. He has since produced a number of hits including ‘Abakyaala Bazira’, ‘Akagambo’, ‘Panadol’ ‘Omwana ono’, ‘Beautiful’ where he featured Exposure Africa and his breakout collaboration with Rocky Giant "Omulembe gwa Balasi”

Meanwhile, Jamal considers Rwanda as his ‘home’, and promised to come back for a real show.
