Students urged on peace, unity

MUSANZE – Students in the country have been urged to act as agents of peace, unity and reconciliation in Rwanda.Dr. Sarah Kilemi, an official of the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), made the remarks while closing a three-day justice and reconciliation workshop, attended by teachers and students.

MUSANZE – Students in the country have been urged to act as agents of peace, unity and reconciliation in Rwanda.
Dr. Sarah Kilemi, an official of the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), made the remarks while closing a three-day justice and reconciliation workshop, attended by teachers and students.

The workshop was called for the purposes of promoting awareness on the role of the youth in promoting justice and reconciliation in the country.

During the workshop, students’ representatives and teachers drawn from eight schools in Musanze and Rulindo districts- were briefed on different topics, including fight against Genocide and its ideology, and international justice.
The workshop was part of ICTR’s outreach programme designed to build a genocide awareness network in secondary schools.

"We expect youth to take part in the promotion and respect of human rights, while maintaining peace and security,’’ Dr. Kilemi said.

The students in their debate noted that the future stability and peace of the country lies in the unity of youth.
